Description
A Hunter’s Tale:
You are out elk hunting and find the perfect spot to overlook your hunting area. You have your back against a tree so nothing can sneak in behind you and catch your movements. After a couple hours, you hear footsteps behind you, so you slowly peek around the tree to see what is coming. To your surprise, you don’t see anything. Maybe it is standing behind a bush or tree. You think to yourself, maybe it was just a bird or mouse. No, it was definitely footsteps. After not seeing anything after several minutes, you turn back around.
Not long afterwards you hear it again, but this time it is closer. Crunch, Crunch, Crunch, Crunch, Crunch. It sounds pretty close, so you move even slower this time to peek around the tree. The sound stops as you start to peek around and you scan the area and see nothing. Was it a racoon or a coyote? No, definitely not, it was definitely foot steps of a large-game animal. You continue looking around while trying to see part of it sticking out from behind a tree or bush. Nothing. So, you turn back around to make sure nothing is coming from the other direction.
After a few minutes, you hear it again, but this time it is coming up right behind your tree. Crunch, CRunch, CRUnch, CRUNch, CRUNCh, CRUNCH!!! It is right behind your tree and by the sounds of the steps, you know it has to be a very large bull! It was way too loud and distinct to be a cow or a deer and you know for sure this is DEFINITELY a large bull! It stops right at the tree. You don’t dare move because you don’t want to spook it. Your only option is to wait for it to pass by you. Your heart is pounding so hard and fast, you think there is no way this huge bull can’t hear your heart beating out of your chest. The anticipation is almost too much to handle. Is it going to detect you before it takes another step into your view?
Suddenly, it appears! There it is, right beside you and coming into view! Low and behold, The Mighty Squirelk! Because you know there is absolutely No Way On Earth that stupid little squirrel just made all that noise, caused all that tense anticipation, and nearly caused you to have a heart-attack!
